Design Brief
To create an interesting and engaging AR experience that introduces or teaches the audience. It can be a 'how to' experience, a product launch showcase, a game or a spatial guidance tour.
Chosen Theme
I chose to develop an AR tour that introduces the structure of ancient Chinese temples to users who may be interested to learn. Chinese temples are magnificent architectural works that has endured for centuries. However there is limited easy-to-digest information in either Chinese or English about how they are made. The temples' core feature that has fascinated scholars and enthusiasts - the dougong (structural element of interlocking wooden brackets) - will also be explored in the AR tour.

Prototype & Concept Video
A scaled-model of the temple was created to provide visualisation of the actual AR experience. See below the concept video which includes the full voiceover for the Temple's construction. The feedback at this stage was that the temple components were too small and there should be a magnifying tool to zoom into individual parts.

3D Model in Solidworks
A 3D model of the temple was created using Solidworks to be used in the AR visualisation software, Adobe Aero. Each phase of the model build as per the storyboard was exported as as an .OBJ file.
AR Tour Presentation Video
This presentation video showcases the complete AR tour and explains how a user who hopes to learn about the construction of ancient Chinese temples can navigate the app. The Chinese temple is scaled to fit on a rectangular coffee or dining table so users can comfortably view each detail and component.
